i've been listening to this a lot lately. I like the voice. And this is, to me, the very definition of post-apocalyptic. Everything else... so just acting. I'm apparently becoming a fan of prog-rock. I'll be damned. It's great. you should listen to this one...

Godspeed You Black Emperor! - The Dead Flag Blues

The car is on fire, and there's no driver at the wheel.
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides. And a dark wind blows...
The guv'ment is corrupt, and we're all so many drunks with the radio on and the curtains drawn.
We are trapped in the belly of this horrible machine, and the machine is bleeding to death.
The sun has fallen down, and the billboards are all leering, and the flags are all dead, at the top of their poles.

it went like this: the buildings toppled in on themselves. Mothers, clutching babies, picked through the rubble, and pulled out their hair.

The skyline was beautiful on fire; all twisted metal stretching upwards, everything washed in a thin orange haze.
I said "kiss me; you're beautiful. These are truly the last days."
you grabbed my hand and we fell into it, like a daydream or a fever.

(4 minutes of instrumental. violins, guitar, synth. Beautiful.)

we woke up one morning, and fell a little further down; for sure it's the Valley of Death.
I open up my wallet, and it's full of blood.

*train whistle, bells*
(more guitar; harmonica-- i think; horns; and violin)

If you knew (not suspected, KNEW) the apocalypse was coming, what would you do? Load your gun and go outside to meet it, standing up, and with your eyes open? Hide under the bed? Make tea and wait it out?

Would it be beautiful, to you, in its own horrifying way? Would it scare you shitless? I love fires. I think it would be beautiful to me, somehow. And I think that somehow, once a person came to deal with it, that one could accept it and take it at what it was.

The art exhibit (Traveling MoMA exhibit we saw in houston, on the last day... RULED.

"Illumined things" by Salvador Dali was AWESOME
the detail was amazing, from something probably 13 x10 inches. the relief on the 'foo dog'/dragon head was outstading, the shading was great, it was just cool

"persistence of memory" was cool too... the landscape was Dali's homeland of Catalan.


"Starry night" by Van Gogh was Awesome. the flame-like image on the left is representative of a cypress tree, often planted in graveyards. Van gogh said that ' as we take the train to get to ____ or Rouens, we take Death to a star' (something close to that.)

thus, the large stars, and the flame-like stuff. all that represents that above. the bright star toward the middle proabbly represents Venus('morning star').

Okay, going to bed. night.

A girl I know has the most beautiful color of eyes, ever. prettiest blue-green ever. They're not contacts, either. heh. Tried to think of who it was the other day, and noticed again at cut yesterday. weird, the stuff you notice.

so i'm outside, and it's foggy, and misty, and weird. and a little bank of thready, misty fog passes by. I grab it, and it pulls apart, like batting, or freshly carded wool. the fog is coming in clumps, such that I wave my hand, and i can move them around.

The full moon was absolutely beautiful on the ocean last night.

walked next to the seawall for about an hour. I love that the tropical storm/hurricane is making for some big waves. very cool how the sea is so flat when you get out past the breakers.

I'm going to miss that in August.
